In Projektphase 4 haben Reich+Petch Design International die "Schad Gallery of Biodiversity: Life in Crisis" gestaltet. Special design to match the architecture of the Memorial Hall with 12 glass columns. A world record in the field of case design and construction was established in 2001 by GLASBAU HAHN. The case with glass panels of 9 m height is a perfect match for the memorial hall architecture by Akira Kuryu Architects, in cooperation with Architect Ohno. Twelve glass columns dominate the hall space, which is embedded in the ground and emerges from an illuminated water basin above the ground.
1. In Glas eingebettete Stromzufuhrkabel.
The large scale table and free-standing display cases are placed on an isolator, effectively compensating any shocks during earth quakes by supporting the entire ground plan of each cases. Nagasaki, located in the south of Japan is not considered an earthquake-prone area. Nonetheless the entire museum complex is equipped with seismic shock protection.
