Grand Egyptian Museum.

Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza is one of the most significant museum projects of the 21st century. Designed by Heneghan Peng Architects, the museum is located on the Giza plateau with a direct visual relationship to the pyramids, creating a monumental architectural setting for Egypt’s cultural heritage.

The Tutankhamun Galleries, designed by Atelier Brückner, are organised in two corridors with six thematic sections. Glasbau Hahn engineered and delivered the display cases for one of these narrative sequences – Identity, Funeral and Rebirth – including the showcase for the Tutankhamun funerary mask.

In addition, Glasbau Hahn engineered, manufactured, transported and installed 89 display cases for the Main Galleries, designed by Haley Sharpe Design, as well as a floor display case beneath the monumental obelisk in the museum forecourt.

The display cases combine welded steel and aluminium structures with low-iron laminated security glass, high-precision sealing systems (AER ≤ 0.1/day) and conservation-grade materials tested according to the Oddy standard. Integrated LED lighting, passive climate buffering, active relative humidity stabilisation (40–60% ±2%), air-filtration systems and nitrogen-atmosphere display cases for sensitive organic artefacts ensure optimal preventive conservation.

The systems were developed in compliance with international museum standards including EN 15999-2 and EN 16141.
