GLASBAU HAHN has completely equipped the refurbished Toyokan Gallery at the TNM. Originally opened in 1968 and designed by Taniguchi Yoshiro, the five-level building with 13 gallery spaces was strengthened by taking earthquake proof measures. Today, the Toyokan Asian art Collection is presented inside 120 free-standing, wall- and table cases, some of extraordinary dimension. It is considered the largest specialist gallery of Asian art in Japan. Reopened in February 2013 it is a true highlight, showcasing the Asian treasures of the TNM collection.

Twelve glass columns dominate the hall space, which is embedded in the ground and emerges from an illuminated water basin above the ground.
